BANDITS ABDUCT QUR’AN RECITATION CHAMPION, FAMILY IN KATSINA

Bandits have kidnapped Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, a distinguished Qur’an recitation champion, along with his father, Malam Rabe Faskari, and his brothers near Labin Bangori in Katsina State. The attack took place on Tuesday evening as the family was returning to Faskari after Abdulsalam was honored by Governor Dikko Radda in Katsina for winning the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

A government official in Faskari, speaking anonymously, confirmed the abduction, stating, “Malam Rabe and his five children, including Abdulsalam, were taken at Bangori along Yankara road. We have not heard from them since.”

Abdulsalam, a medical student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, clinched first place in the male category for memorizing 60 Hizbs of the Qur’an. Attempts to reach the Katsina State Police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful.
