VERYDARKMAN QUESTIONS TINUBU’S MOVE IN RIVERS STATE POLITICAL CRISIS

Controversial social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has weighed in on the escalating political crisis in Rivers State. In a bold online statement, VDM questioned the influence of President Bola Tinubu and the growing power of former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in the nation’s political landscape.

His reaction follows President Tinubu’s nationwide address on Tuesday, March 18, where he declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. As part of this drastic move, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the entire House of Assembly were suspended for six months. To take charge of the state’s affairs, Tinubu appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the interim administrator.

VDM joined a list of public figures—including rapper Falz and actress Hilda Dokubo—who have openly criticized the decision. In a video shared online, he raised concerns over Wike’s apparent influence over Tinubu’s administration, pointing out that the newly appointed administrator, Ibokette Ibas, has close ties to Wike. The speculation deepened after images surfaced showing Wike and Ibas together, leading many to believe Wike played a role in the selection process.

“Who is truly running Nigeria? Why does Nyesom Wike always get what he wants? How can they suspend a sitting governor for six months and force him out of office?” VDM questioned.

He also criticized Governor Fubara for going against Wike without a clear political strategy, suggesting that his downfall was inevitable. Furthermore, VDM speculated that Wike’s growing alliance with Tinubu might be part of a bigger plan, hinting at a possible presidential ambition for Wike in 2032.

Reactions from Netizens

VDM’s comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns:

  • @LightUp_9ja: “Na Wike na president. He gives orders to the president.”
  • @hippopotamus091: “Not the first time… That’s how the so-called dirty politics game works in Nigeria.”
  • @Certifi20625314: “That’s the same thing with Peter Obi—two weak people. You want to be governor, but you no get mind.”
  • @KingsleyA69318: “I just remembered Egypt and Pharaoh—when Pharaoh was doing bad, his supporters were telling him ‘you’re the best.’ God closed Pharaoh’s ears because He wanted to destroy him. The same thing will happen to Tinubu and his people.”
  • @johnny_emediong: “Very important question—who is the real president of Nigeria?”
