“Nobody Deserves This, It’s Enough.” — Simi Speaks Out After Viral Rape Survivor’s Video

Nigerian singer Simi has joined the growing chorus of voices reacting to the heartbreaking story of a young woman who shared how she was raped in her own home and attacked with a blade , a video that has sparked widespread outrage across social media.
In an emotional comment, Simi expressed deep pain and exhaustion over the continuous violation of women, saying the incident left her heartbroken and mentally drained.
“I don’t know what to say. If I’m this heartbroken for her, I can only imagine how this has shattered her. I’m tired,” she wrote.
The artiste went further to condemn the disturbing reactions trailing the video, particularly comments accusing the survivor of lying simply because she wasn’t responding to celebrities or public sympathy.
“For all the women that are getting violated every day, it’s enough. Please, it is enough. Nobody deserves this,” Simi said.
She also slammed both men and women who questioned the survivor’s credibility, describing such responses as cruel and inhumane.
“I’ve seen comments from men AND women saying she’s lying because she’s not responding to celebrities. Are you insane? Is this entertainment?” she asked.
According to Simi, a survivor’s silence or inability to engage online should never be used as proof of dishonesty.
“All the comments and messages she’s receiving and you think her inability or even lack of desire to keep up with people’s sympathy is evidence that she’s lying? Shame on you!!”
Her words have resonated with many online, reigniting conversations around victim-shaming, empathy, and the urgent need to protect women rather than interrogate their trauma.
