“I Lost My Triplets Due To Medical Negligence” — Woman Accuses St. Ives Hospital Of Gross Medical Failure

A grieving mother has taken to social media to share a deeply emotional account of how she lost her triplets, alleging severe medical negligence during her care at St. Ives Hospital.

In a lengthy video series, the woman recounted her five-day ordeal at the hospital, where she said she was left to labour largely on her own without adequate medical attention. According to her, she went into labour on February 13 and was discharged on February 15, despite losing all three babies and without a proper medical explanation or post-delivery assessment.

She explained that this was her first pregnancy and that she was inexperienced, relying heavily on medical professionals for guidance. Earlier in her pregnancy, she said she repeatedly complained of severe cramps and unusual pain but was reassured by a doctor that her symptoms were “normal” because she was carrying triplets.

Out of fear and uncertainty, she said she often visited private labs just to listen to her babies’ heartbeats for reassurance, sometimes not even collecting scan results.

Her account became more harrowing when she described how her water broke at the hospital and she was told that all hope of saving the babies was lost. Labour was induced, and she was instructed to endure the pain alone and only alert staff when she felt the babies coming.

She alleged that during delivery, there was no doctor present and only one nurse who was repeatedly unavailable due to other duties. She claimed she delivered the babies with only her mother by her side.

According to her narration, after the first baby was delivered, she questioned why the child was placed in a metal container instead of an incubator. She said she was told there was nothing that could be done and that she should “let go” of the babies. The same process reportedly followed for the second and third babies, who were delivered at intervals.

She further alleged that she was forced to walk unassisted from an upstairs area to a downstairs labour room while holding surgical scissors and placental cords, with no stretcher, wheelchair, or medical support provided.

Following the delivery, she said she was repeatedly discharged without seeing a doctor, undergoing scans, or receiving clear medical explanations about what went wrong. At one point, she was allegedly asked to pay an additional ₦200,000 as a “deposit” before any further care could be provided.

Even after being admitted again due to severe pain, she claimed no doctor came to check on her while she remained in the ward.

“I just want to be heard,” she said. “I want my babies to feel like I tried for them, because I know I did my best.”

Her story has since sparked outrage and renewed conversations online about maternal healthcare standards, accountability, and medical negligence in private hospitals.

As of the time of this report, the hospital has not publicly responded to the allegations.
