ACTOR FEMI BRANCH ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING CREW MEMBER, LOCKED IN ON SET BY COLLEAGUES IN PROTEST

Nollywood actor Femi Branch is at the center of a brewing controversy after a viral video emerged showing him visibly agitated while attempting to leave a movie set, allegedly after slapping a crew member.

According to multiple eyewitness accounts circulating on social media, the incident occurred during a film shoot where Branch, in a moment of conflict, allegedly slapped the First Assistant Director (1st A.D).

In solidarity, the production crew reportedly locked the gate, blocking the actor from exiting the premises.

In the video, Femi Branch is seen confronting crew members, demanding to be let out while tensions escalate.

The crew’s collective decision not to continue shooting has since sparked a wider conversation in Nollywood about the treatment of crew members by top-billed actors.

Many online users have condemned the alleged assault, calling for more professionalism and mutual respect on set.

However, the situation has also raised legal concerns. A section of online commentators warned that detaining an individual against their will regardless of the motive could be interpreted as kidnapping under Nigerian law.

While Femi Branch has yet to issue an official statement addressing the alleged assault the actor is reported to have apologised to the crew member.
