PORSHA WILLIAMS ’ ESTRANGED HUSBAND SIMON GUOBADIA DETAINED BY ICE
Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian-born businessman and estranged husband of American TV personality Porsha Williams, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to records from the Department of Homeland Security, Guobadia is currently being held at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Guobadia’s detention comes amid President Trump’s intensified mass deportation efforts, which were set into motion last month through a series of executive orders following his return to the Oval Office for a second term.
Guobadia, 60, first arrived in the U.S. from Nigeria in 1982 but allegedly overstayed his visa. He was declared deportable in 1985, as reported by Atlanta’s *WSB-TV 2*. His legal troubles escalated in 1987 when he was arrested for bank and credit card fraud. After two additional arrests, he was deported to Nigeria in 1992—only to return to the U.S. a month later.
In 2016, Guobadia applied for U.S. citizenship, but his application was denied due to his previous immigration status being deemed “unlawfully granted.” Despite filing multiple appeals and complaints to challenge the decision, he has yet to achieve naturalized citizenship.
The news of his detention adds another layer to the ongoing legal drama between Guobadia and Williams. The couple married in November 2022 but separated after nearly 15 months, with Williams filing for divorce in February 2024. Since then, their split has been marked by a contentious legal battle. In September 2024, Williams secured a significant victory when a judge upheld their prenuptial agreement. By November, court documents revealed that Williams had been granted temporary sole possession of their marital home and the unrestricted right to film and produce content there.
As Guobadia remains in ICE custody, the situation continues to unfold, leaving many questions about the future of his immigration status and the ongoing divorce proceedings.
