NYSC SUMMONS CORPS MEMBER OVER VIRAL CRITICISM OF TINUBU’S ADMINISTRATION

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has summoned Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a corps member serving in Lagos State, following a viral TikTok video where she criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the worsening economic situation in Nigeria.

Why Was She Summoned?

According to reports from Gistlover, the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI) issued a directive instructing Rita, identified by code number LA/24B/832, to appear at the Eti Osa 3 local government office by 10 a.m. on Monday, without fail.

This summon follows the widespread reaction to her emotional TikTok post under the handle @talktoraye, where she expressed deep frustration over the rising cost of living in the country. Her remarks quickly went viral, drawing the attention—and disapproval—of the NYSC authorities.

What Did She Say?

In her video, Rita tearfully described the administration as incompetent, branding President Tinubu a “terrible president” while questioning the government’s handling of the economic crisis.

She lamented the continuous rise in prices of essential goods and services, stating:

“I just came from a supermarket, and everything has gone up again. Every single week, prices increase. What is the government doing about this?”

Her Key Concerns Included:

✔️ A crate of eggs now costs ₦6,500, a dramatic jump from ₦800 in previous years.
✔️ Electricity bills have doubled, making basic living expenses unbearable.
✔️ Uber fares have skyrocketed to ₦25,000, making transportation increasingly unaffordable.
✔️ Lagos’ sanitation issues, as she described the city as “stinking” due to poor waste management.

Additionally, she questioned the relevance of NYSC, arguing that corps members spend more on transportation than the government allowance covers.

NYSC’s Response & Rita’s Reaction

Less than 24 hours after posting her video, Rita shared another TikTok clip, revealing that she had been contacted by multiple NYSC officials.
