20-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING FATHER IN JIGAWA
Tragedy struck in Jigawa State as the police confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, for allegedly killing his father, Salisu Abubakar, in Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District, Gwaram Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the state police spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025. Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect attacked his 57-year-old father with a machete, inflicting severe injuries to the victim’s shoulder, neck, and chest.
Responding swiftly to the distress call, officers from the Sara Divisional Police Headquarters arrived at the scene and evacuated the victim to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Birnin Kudu. However, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
The suspect was promptly apprehended, and the weapon used in the attack was recovered as evidence.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for a thorough investigation. Authorities have assured that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
