KANO POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OVER FATAL ATTACK ON VIGILANTES IN EMIR SANUSI’S ENTOURAGE
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 20-year-old Usman Sagiru of Sharifai Quarters in connection with the deadly attack on vigilantes escorting Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from the Eid praying ground on Sunday, March 30.
According to police reports, Sagiru and other suspects—who remain at large—allegedly stabbed Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante member from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters. Rabiu later succumbed to his injuries. Another vigilante, Aminu Suleman of Kofar Mata Quarters, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the attack and have invited Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, for questioning.
The Kano State Police Command has reiterated its strict ban on all Durbar celebrations and warned that violators will face legal consequences. The command also emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward thuggery (Daba) and any activities that threaten public order.
“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as we work to maintain peace and security in Kano State,” the police statement read.
