HOTEL MANAGER CONFESSES TO MURDER OF 22-YEAR-OLD POS OPERATOR IN DELTA STATE
The manager of Century Home Hotel in Owhelogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, identified as Iboirode, has confessed to the brutal murder of a 22-year-old Point-of-Sale (POS) operator, Onoriode Bethel, whose remains were recently recovered on the hotel premises.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the shocking development in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, Iboirode lured Bethel into the hotel on December 13, 2024, after a dispute over a fake bank alert involving ₦10,000. Despite eventually recovering her money, Bethel’s confrontation reportedly angered the hotel manager, who vowed to retaliate for what he claimed was damage to his reputation.
“He invited her to the hotel and took her into one of the rooms. He killed her and later demanded ransom from her father using her phone. He also used her POS machine to collect the money after extracting the password from her,” SP Edafe said.
The suspect’s wife, in an earlier confession, revealed that her husband had informed her of the killing hours after committing the act. “He told me she was a friend. He called her that evening and took her into a room. Around midnight, he told me he had killed her,” she recounted.
This latest confession follows a previous case in March 2025, in which the same hotel manager, alongside a security guard and two other staff members, was arrested in connection with the murder of another guest, Pastor Sunday Ogofotha.
Police say investigations are ongoing and have vowed to ensure justice is served.
