Ghana Moves to Extradite Russian Man Over Viral Secret Recording Scandal

Ghana’s government has reportedly begun steps to seek the extradition of a Russian national amid a growing scandal over videos he recorded and shared online involving women in Ghana and allegedly in Kenya.
Authorities, led by Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation Samuel Nartey George, said the individual identified in multiple reports as Yaytseslav or Vyacheslav Trahov faces allegations of recording intimate encounters with several women without their consent and posting the footage on social media and private channels.
George told journalists that Ghanaian officials have invited the Russian Ambassador to Accra to discuss cooperation on the matter and are exploring diplomatic and legal avenues to bring the man back to Ghana to face prosecution under the country’s Cybersecurity laws. He said officials are prepared to pursue extradition, and if that fails, could seek prosecution in absentia.
While Ghanaian officials say the suspect may have left the country, they remain committed to holding him accountable and are working with international partners, including Interpol, on the case. An individual’s exact legal status and travel history across Ghana and Kenya have not been independently confirmed by government statements.
