Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologised to her colleague, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, retracting previous accusations and asking for peace following her release from detention over an alleged cyberbullying and defamation case.

The apology comes amid a high-profile dispute that saw Mercy Johnson file a police petition against Okorie after allegations on social media part of a long-running tension between the two actresses. Okorie was arrested in Lagos by operatives from the Nigeria Police Force’s Cybercrime Centre and transferred to Abuja, where she was accused of cyberstalking and criminal defamation over comments she made online about the actress.

Following her release last week after meeting stringent bail conditions, Angela posted a video in which she said she now regrets her actions and retracted all damaging claims previously made about Mercy Johnson. She emphasised that Mercy is not a witch and recognised the emotional toll the feud took, not just on Mercy but on her family.

Angela also highlighted the importance of reconciliation, urging peace within the industry and expressing goodwill toward Mercy, her husband, and her children. Her statement has drawn mixed reactions online, with some applauding the move toward resolution, while others noted that the apology followed significant legal pressure.
