Lady Golfer Breaks Silence On Viral Allegations, Issues Series Of Social-Media Clarifications

Nigerian restaurateur and socialite Blessing Edet Osom, widely known as Lady Golfer, has issued a series of social-media clarifications addressing allegations published last week by a popular entertainment platform. The report claimed she was detained in Dubai and later deported, a claim that rapidly circulated across Nigerian online spaces.

In multiple Instagram Stories posted on Wednesday, Osom challenged the accuracy of the narrative. Addressing the substance-related claim, she wrote:
“Thought you said I did d••gs and it will be 5 years in jail? Now it’s deportation?”

She also directed a pointed message at a female politician she linked to the rumour circulation, saying:
“Face the husband you stole. Leave me alone and rest.”

Additionally, Osom posted a photo of another woman she alleged had been “recruited” to push negative narratives, writing:
“This is a married woman with her sugar boyfriend Paul… meanwhile the husband is sick and in the hospital.”

The public response was immediate and sharply divided. One follower wrote, “Finally them don let you out,” while others cautioned her on the potential implications of her disclosures, such as:
“I hope you know your page will be brought down for exposing someone’s health status?”
and
“It’s against the law to reveal an individual’s health information.”

Digital-rights observers online have also raised concerns about the ethical and legal consequences of revealing private details in response to unverified claims.

Osom repeatedly referenced screenshots from the platform that published the initial allegation, asserting that the narrative had shifted inconsistently—from a supposed “five-year jail term” to a “deportation claim.”

As at press time, no official statement has been issued by authorities in the UAE or Nigeria regarding the alleged detention or deportation. The story remains unverified and continues to attract widespread attention online.
