WIKE DISMISSES DELE MOMODU AS ‘A BOY,’ SAYS HE DOESN’T REMEMBER HIS NAME
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at veteran journalist and media mogul, Dele Momodu, referring to him dismissively as “a boy” while claiming not to recall his name.
The comment came during a media parley on Thursday, where Wike addressed questions from selected journalists amid growing criticism over his recent political maneuvers.
Momodu, publisher of Ovation International and a former presidential aspirant, had in recent days criticized Wike’s alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting it could erode his political relevance.
In what appeared to be a direct response, Wike said, “There is this boy, they say he is a journalist. What’s his name? He is big.” When journalists clarified the name—Dele Momodu—Wike curtly responded, “Okay, I don’t remember all these names. He was never my friend. He ran for president, but he didn’t get one vote.”
Wike’s comments underscore the deepening rift between political figures and public commentators, and reflect his no-holds-barred approach to dissenting voices.
The exchange adds another layer to the ongoing political realignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
