WIKE RULES OUT NORTHERN PDP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ruled out the possibility of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the North.

Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike emphasized the importance of equity and warned against what he described as “selfishness” within the party, in an apparent reference to former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“PDP cannot give the presidential ticket to the North in 2027,” Wike stated. “Selfishness can kill a system. For example, if Mr. President runs and wins in 2027, by 2031 the APC will naturally zone its ticket to the North. What will PDP do then? Follow suit and give it to the North again?”

Wike’s comments add to the ongoing debate over zoning and power rotation ahead of the next general election.
