NDDC WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST FAKE POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCAM
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has raised alarm over a fraudulent scheme targeting applicants of its Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt, NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, revealed that scammers are impersonating the commission through fake emails, soliciting money and personal details from unsuspecting victims.
“These fraudulent messages, sent from nddcregistry@gmail.com and claiming to be from the NDDC ‘Board Registry,’ invite applicants to a fictitious verification exercise scheduled for May 19–21 in Victoria Island, Lagos,” she disclosed.
Thompson-Wakama stressed that the commission has no ties to this activity and warned the public to be vigilant. “All official communications regarding our scholarship programmes are made through our portal: www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng,” she emphasized.
She urged recipients of suspicious messages to report them to law enforcement and cautioned prospective applicants to verify all scholarship-related information via the official NDDC website: www.nddc.gov.ng.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and advised Nigerians to stay alert and avoid falling prey to cyber fraud.
