TG OMORI DEFENDS TIKTOK INFLUENCER PELLER AMID BACKLASH OVER 30-DAY RANT CHALLENGE
Popular music video director, TG Omori, has stepped in to defend TikTok influencer Peller, who is facing heavy criticism for urging users to reconsider their participation in the viral 30-Day Rant Challenge.
The challenge, which has gained widespread attention, involves Nigerians voicing their frustrations over economic struggles for 30 consecutive days. Many view it as a means to hold authorities accountable, but Peller cautioned participants, warning that prolonged online protests could be deemed offensive by the government and might even lead to a TikTok ban in Nigeria. He advised those with grievances to take their protests to Instagram or opt for physical demonstrations instead.
Peller’s remarks triggered mixed reactions. While some agreed with his concerns about the potential risks of the challenge, others accused him of prioritizing TikTok’s survival over the hardships faced by Nigerians. The controversy escalated when an X (formerly Twitter) user bluntly stated, “I hate this guy called Peller.”
In response, TG Omori defended the influencer, writing, “Hate is a strong word. He’s just a boy.” His comment added another layer to the debate, with some applauding his stance, while others maintained that Peller deserved criticism for downplaying the movement.
The heated discussion reflects ongoing tensions around social media activism in Nigeria, as citizens balance freedom of expression with concerns over government repercussions.
