OSIMHEN BRACE FIRES NIGERIA TO 2-0 VICTORY OVER RWANDA IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to secure a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in their CAF World Cup qualification Group C clash on Friday.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the 11th minute when Osimhen expertly converted a precise cross from Ademola Lookman. The Napoli forward then doubled Nigeria’s advantage in first-half stoppage time (45+3’), sealing a crucial win.
The match was a physical encounter, with Rwanda’s D. Bizimana receiving a yellow card in the 46th minute, followed by Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi picking up a booking in the 49th minute. Despite holding 45% possession, Rwanda struggled to break through Nigeria’s solid defense, managing only two shots on target.
Nigeria dominated offensively, registering three shots on target and earning eight corner kicks. The victory propels the Super Eagles to fourth place in Group C with six points from five matches, keeping their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
