SUPER EAGLES CELEBRATE ADEMOLA LOOKMAN’S CAF PLAYER OF THE YEAR TRIUMPH
The Super Eagles players honored Ademola Lookman on Monday night, presenting him with a cake in celebration of his 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. The Atalanta winger was showered with praises by his teammates during dinner at their Four Points by Sheraton Hotel camp in Ikot Ekpene.
Lookman clinched the prestigious award in December 2024 at a ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, following an outstanding season for both club and country. His achievement marks back-to-back wins for Nigeria, as compatriot Victor Osimhen claimed the honor in 2023.
Osimhen, who spoke highly of Lookman, emphasized that the 27-year-old was truly deserving of the recognition.
“We all know Lookman deserved this. He’s been amazing for both his club and the Super Eagles. It’s a great privilege that this prestigious award remains in Nigeria and went to the most deserving person,” Osimhen said.
The Galatasaray striker also commended Lookman’s commitment to Nigerian football, saying, “I’m proud of you. We speak privately a lot, and I’ve told you how proud I am that you chose to play for the Super Eagles. Your hard work and dedication, both for your club and our national team, prove you deserve to be Africa’s best.”
Lookman and Osimhen were instrumental in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday. The duo will be back in action against Zimbabwe today (Tuesday).
