NAIRA MARLEY LEAKS IYABO OJO’S OLD CHATS, SHE RESPONDS

In a series of posts on his Insta-story, Naira Marley shared old messages from Iyabo Ojo, dating back to 2021. The messages revealed multiple instances where Iyabo sought favors from him, including invitations to her events, such as her late mother’s remembrance party. She also asked for his support in promoting her adopted son’s music career. However, Naira Marley did not provide any reason for sharing the chats.

Reacting on Instagram, Iyabo reposted the screenshots and issued a detailed response. She clarified that, as a TikTok influencer, she had promoted various artists, including Naira Marley, after his team reached out to her through her son, Festus, in 2020. She recalled that he later thanked her via DM, and she subsequently invited him to her movie premiere and her mother’s burial.

“I have always supported young artists, whether by promoting their music, offering my lounge for shows, or connecting them with producers like Naira Marley. For example, Fabian was signed to Naira Marley’s label but left due to personal reasons, while my nephew’s style didn’t fit his label.”

She went on to explain her stance regarding the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death. “When disturbing videos surfaced and petitions alleged that Sam Larry, Naira Marley’s associate, bullied Mohbad—a young artist who later died—I questioned Naira Marley’s silence. I never accused him of murder, but evidence showed Mohbad was under threat. My issue with Naira Marley is his failure to condemn the bullying. I’ve also learned of other serious allegations against him, and if necessary, they will be addressed in court.”

Iyabo emphasized that she engages with many celebrities via DM but refuses to ignore injustice. “If Naira Marley thought our past conversations would silence me, he was mistaken.”

Iyabo had been a vocal critic of Naira Marley following the controversial death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, in September 2023. She accused the singer of contributing to Mohbad’s struggles. In December 2023, Naira Marley sued Iyabo for defamation, alleging that she falsely implicated him in Mohbad’s troubles. His lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, claimed her social media posts suggested Naira Marley had both spiritual and physical control over Mohbad, leading to mental distress. In response, Iyabo filed a counter-lawsuit against him.
