The children of the late Alaafin of Oyo have expressed concerns over Queen Dami, one of the monarch’s widows, accusing her of tarnishing his legacy through derogatory remarks made during interviews.

Reports indicate that Queen Dami’s recent interview with Esabod sparked controversy, as she repeatedly mentioned the late monarch in a manner that the family found disrespectful.

In a letter addressed to Queen Dami, she was questioned about her actions and whether she would want her own late father’s name associated with negative narratives. The letter also reminded her that she is not the only widow of the late king and labeled her behavior as increasingly embarrassing and unacceptable.

Aminat Adeyemi, one of the late Alaafin’s daughters, further emphasized the issue in a social media post, captioning it with a warning about the importance of self-restraint. She also made a pointed remark questioning how many husbands or lovers Queen Dami plans to have.

The letter, written on the official letterhead of the late Alaafin of Oyo, was dated January 22, 2025, though it was unsigned.

It’s worth noting that Aminat and Queen Dami have had a history of conflict. Aminat previously criticized Dami after she reportedly collapsed during a public incident involving singer Portable.
