Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to sue the BBC for $1 billion, accusing the broadcaster of “defamatory” and “malicious” editing of his speech before the 2021 Capitol riots.
Trump’s lawyers demanded a full retraction, apology, and compensation, warning that the BBC is “on notice.”
The BBC Director-General has since resigned over the controversy, with the network promising to review the issue and offering a public apology.
