TENSION AS KIDNAPPERS ABDUCT HAKEEM ODUMOSU’S WIFE
Four hooded, heavily armed men suspected to be kidnappers abducted the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu from her residence in Arepo, Ogun State. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, in a coordinated operation, intercepted Mrs. Odumosu as she approached her compound at approximately 9:55 p.m. on Thursday.
The kidnappers forcibly stopped her Lexus SUV, dragged her out, and led her through a swampy area to an unknown location. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Arepo community, raising concerns about the state of security in the region.
Confirming the abduction, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that the command responded swiftly by deploying operatives to secure Mrs. Odumosu’s release. She noted, “At approximately 9:55 p.m., reports were received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu, a resident of Aminu Street, Orange Estate, Arepo. She was attacked by four masked men as she attempted to enter her home. The assailants dragged her out of her Lexus Jeep and took her through swampy terrain to an unknown location. The Divisional Police Officer has led a team to the scene and engaged local community leaders, including Baale Warewa and Baale Maaba, to deploy local security forces to the riverine area.”
CSP Odutola further revealed that the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has been briefed, and covert operations, including digital intelligence, are underway to ensure Mrs. Odumosu’s safe rescue.
As police efforts intensify, the public remains anxious, awaiting updates on this high-profile abduction that has unsettled the Arepo community.
Meanwhile, the family of the retired AIG has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
Retired AIG Hakeem Odumosu, who once served as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, earned a reputation for his tough stance on criminal elements. A member of the Nigeria Police Force since March 3, 1990, Odumosu rose through the ranks, leaving behind a commendable legacy in Lagos.
