INTERIOR MINISTER OLUBUNMI TUNJI-OJO DECRIES INSECURITY, INSUFFICIENT FUNDING AMID BENUE MASSACRE

Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has raised serious concerns over the escalating insecurity across the country, lamenting the inadequate budgetary allocations to critical security agencies.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent massacre in Benue State, where scores of lives were lost in renewed attacks, the minister expressed frustration over the limited resources available to tackle growing security threats.

He stressed that while the government remains committed to addressing insecurity, the lack of sufficient funding hampers the effectiveness of internal security operations and undermines national stability.

Tunji-Ojo called for an urgent review of funding priorities, warning that without proper investment in security infrastructure and personnel, the country may continue to struggle in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and communal violence.

His remarks come as Nigerians continue to mourn the latest killings in Benue, with increasing calls for accountability, proactive leadership, and strategic reforms in the nation’s security framework.
