WAEC CANDIDATE K*LLED BY STRAY BULLET ALLEGEDLY FIR£D BY POLICE IN IBADAN 

Tragedy struck in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, May 20, as a yet-to-be-identified secondary school student was killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by police officers pursuing suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.

According to eyewitness reports, the student was on his way to sit for his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) when the bullet struck him. The incident occurred along Gbagi Market Road, where police were said to be chasing a moving vehicle occupied by the suspects. In the course of the chase, one of the officers reportedly opened fire, and the stray bullet hit the student who was riding on his father’s motorcycle.

The boy was rushed to Welfare Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The news triggered outrage in the area, prompting angry residents to transport the student’s corpse to the Oyo State Secretariat in protest, demanding accountability and the attention of Governor Seyi Makinde.

As of the time of this report, the Oyo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
