OGUN DEPUTY CHIEF WHIP ONANUGA DI£S AT 59
The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, has passed away.
Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, following a brief illness.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the House Spokesperson, Hon. Akin Rotimi, described Onanuga as a dedicated public servant, visionary leader, and passionate advocate for her constituents. Born on December 2, 1965, she was known for her relentless service and commitment to public welfare.
Elected to the House in 2019 under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Onanuga chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development in the 9th Assembly. In this capacity, she championed policies aimed at empowering women and enhancing social welfare.
Re-elected in 2023, she was appointed Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Assembly. In this role, she demonstrated remarkable leadership and a steadfast commitment to legislative discipline, particularly during parliamentary proceedings.
