“It’s Not ‘Link-din’, It’s ‘Linkt-in’ — ESL Teacher Corrects Common Pronunciation Mistake

A woman who teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) has gone viral after calling out one of the most common pronunciation mistakes people make especially during job interviews, the way they pronounce LinkedIn.
According to the ESL teacher, mispronouncing the professional networking platform in an interview setting could cost candidates valuable points, particularly when interviewers are paying close attention to communication skills, clarity, and confidence.
She explained that although the word contains the letter “D,” it is not pronounced with a hard “d” sound. Instead, the correct pronunciation sounds closer to “linkt-in,” with the “d” subtly leaning toward a “t” sound, almost as if you’re saying two separate words: link and tin.
“It’s not ‘LinkedIn’ or ‘Link-din,’” she stressed. “English is not about vibes. It’s about rules, and you have to take them seriously.”
The video quickly sparked conversations online, with many viewers admitting they had been pronouncing the word incorrectly for years. Others debated whether such details should really matter in professional spaces or if the correction was unnecessary nitpicking.
