Education will continue to be a cornerstone of Bola Tinubu’s policy agenda, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed.

Speaking on Monday at the 2026 International Day of Education Conference in Abuja themed “Re-imagining the Future of Education in Nigeria: Collaborative Solutions for a Brighter Tomorrow” Gbajabiamila described education as an “existential imperative” for Nigeria’s national development and global competitiveness.

According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu places sustained investment in learning at the heart of its strategy, stressing that “education is the bridge between potential and productivity; between aspiration and achievement.” He also highlighted that within the first three months of the current administration, Tinubu assented to the Students’ Loans Bill paving the way for the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to support students nationwide.

Gbajabiamila commended lawmakers, policymakers, and stakeholders gathered at the conference for their dedication to addressing challenges such as infrastructure gaps, weak teacher welfare, and limited access to technology — issues that have contributed to Nigeria having one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children globally.

“As Chief of Staff to the President, you can always count on my support. Education will remain central to the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said, urging participants to move beyond dialogue and develop practical actions to improve funding, oversight, and implementation of education reforms.
