Three suspects accused of killing 22‑year‑old Nigerian student and e‑hailing driver Isaac David Satlat have appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today, facing charges that include murder and car hijacking.

Satlat, who was studying mobile engineering and driving for a ride‑hailing service in Pretoria West, was brutally attacked on February 11 after picking up passengers who requested a ride. Dashcam footage from his vehicle widely circulated online captured the violent assault that led to his death, helping police identify suspects.

Initially, a 25‑year‑old woman was arrested after surrendering to police. Over the weekend, two additional male suspects, aged 26 and 30, were also apprehended and brought before the court today alongside her. The trio abandoned their bail applications and will remain in custody, with the case adjourned for further investigations until February 23.

Police say the suspects are linked to the hijacking and fatal assault of Satlat, whose body and vehicle were later found abandoned in Atteridgeville. Authorities continue to search for a fourth suspect believed to be involved in the crime.

Satlat’s family and the Nigerian community have expressed deep grief and are appealing for support, including help to repatriate his body to Nigeria for burial. His death has reignited calls for improved safety measures for e‑hailing drivers and stronger protections for foreign nationals working abroad.
