Afrobeats star Davido has finally broken his silence following reports that he lost the custody case involving his daughter, Imade Adeleke, with her mother, Sophia Momodu.
Reacting to the online celebration and commentary surrounding the case, Davido clarified that he never asked for full custody, but rather joint custody, stressing that the situation should not be treated as a win or loss.
“Nobody won, nobody lost — but Imade. So I don’t know why some people are celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate,” he said.
The singer revealed that he has decided to drop the case, explaining that the legal process became emotionally overwhelming for him. According to Davido, the turning point was when his late son was mentioned in court, a move he described as crossing the line.
“She brought out her last card — my deceased son. That’s a no no. Lowest blow,” Davido stated.
Despite stepping away from the case, the singer emphasised that his daughter will grow up knowing he fought for her and that his intentions were rooted in love and responsibility.
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her. Let’s move on. One love ❤️”
Davido’s statement has since stirred emotional reactions online, with many calling for empathy, maturity, and peace especially where a child is involved.
