Nigerian Army Strikes Suspected Terrorist Camp In Kogi, Seizes Ammunition

The Nigerian Army has scored a strategic victory in the fight against terrorism with a successful raid on a suspected terrorist camp in Kogi State, recovering significant quantities of arms and ammunition and dealing a major blow to criminal networks operating in the region.
Troops from the 12 Brigade, operating under Operation IGBO IDANU I, carried out the clearance operation in forested terrain in Kogi State, penetrating dense vegetation and challenging environments to surprise the terrorists and dismantle their stronghold. The raid was described in an official statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s X account as a “decisive strategic blow” to a network linked to individuals identified as **Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.”
Although the suspects fled on sighting advancing troops, the soldiers overran the camp and conducted a thorough search, recovering weapons and ammunition found at the site. Recovered items included eight boxes of 7.62 x 54mm link ammunition each containing bandoliers of 250 rounds, and a box of high‑velocity grenades, significantly degrading the terrorists’ ability to stage future attacks. The camp was destroyed and set ablaze to prevent reoccupation.
In addition to arms and ammunition, troops continue to patrol the area to prevent regrouping by fleeing elements and to consolidate gains from the successful operation. The show of force underscores the Army’s commitment to securing communities, safeguarding lives, and restoring peace in Kogi State and surrounding regions.
Officials reaffirmed that ongoing security operations in the region remain robust, with collaboration between security agencies and community stakeholders aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring long‑term stability.
