Abia Governor Alex Otti Signs Senior Citizens Law To Support Citizens Aged 60 And Above

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has signed into law the Abia State Senior Citizens Law, a landmark piece of legislation designed to improve the welfare of older residents in the state.
The new law, part of a suite of 18 executive bills assented by the governor, is aimed at strengthening care and support structures for citizens aged 60 years and above. It reflects the government’s commitment to creating long-term social protections for elderly residents who have contributed to the development of their communities and families.
While detailed provisions of the law are now being finalised by relevant agencies, its passage marks a significant step toward systematic care for senior citizens in Abia State.
