Lagos–Ibadan Expressway To Face Six-Week Partial Closure As FG Begins Bridge Repairs

The Federal Government has announced a six-week partial closure of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway to allow for critical repair works on sections of the road, particularly damaged bridges along the corridor.
The planned closure, which will affect specific lanes rather than a total shutdown, is aimed at ensuring the safety of motorists and extending the lifespan of the highway, one of Nigeria’s busiest transport routes. Authorities said traffic will be diverted in phases to minimise disruption during the repair period.
Motorists using the expressway have been advised to expect delays and to plan their journeys accordingly. The Federal Government also urged road users to adhere strictly to traffic management instructions and warning signs that will be in place throughout the repair process.
The Lagos–Ibadan Expressway serves as a major link between Lagos and several states across the South-West, North-Central, and Northern regions of the country. Regular maintenance of the route, officials say, is necessary to prevent accidents and ensure smoother travel.
The government assured the public that the repair works would be closely monitored to ensure timely completion within the six-week period.
