TRUCK FALLS OFF PEN CINEMA BRIDGE, CRUSHES TWO BUSES IN LAGOS (VIDEO)
A fully-loaded truck (plate number GGE 624 YJ) lost control while navigating the Pen Cinema Bridge and plunged onto two parked commercial Volkswagen buses below.
The incident occurred earlier today, April 26, along Old Abeokuta Road in the Agege area of Lagos. Fortunately, the parked buses were empty at the time of the crash, preventing a potential tragedy.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the truck driver sustained serious fractures to both hands. He was promptly rescued by LASTMA officials, handed over to officers from Elere Police Division, and rushed to the General Hospital in Ile-Epo for urgent medical care.
In response, LASTMA operatives swiftly cordoned off the scene, diverted traffic, and collaborated with the LASEMA Response Unit to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.
Expressing concern over the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged motorists—especially truck drivers—to exercise heightened caution during the rainy season. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to road safety regulations and compliance with newly installed speed-limiting devices to help prevent future accidents.
Bakare-Oki also wished the injured driver a speedy recovery.
