The World Bank has commended Nigeria’s economic reforms, describing the country as a global reference point for credible reform leadership.

The remarks were made by Anna Bjerde, World Bank Managing Director of Operations, during a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House in Abuja.

Bjerde noted that Nigeria’s reform efforts particularly in fiscal policy and economic restructuring are frequently referenced in global discussions on leadership and reform, adding that the country’s consistency has helped build investor confidence.

President Tinubu reaffirmed that the reform agenda remains irreversible, stressing that tough decisions such as subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms were necessary to stabilise the economy and attract long-term investment.

The World Bank also pledged continued collaboration with Nigeria, aligning its support with the administration’s growth and development priorities.
