As the 2026 Grammy Awards draw closer, attention is firmly on the Best African Music Performance category, which features some of Africa’s biggest and most influential music stars. The category continues to spotlight the global impact of African sounds, from Afrobeats to Amapiano.

This year’s nominees include a strong mix of chart-topping hits and critically acclaimed records. Leading the list is Burna Boy with his song “Love,” a soulful Afro-fusion track that has resonated deeply with fans worldwide. Davido, alongside Omah Lay, earned a nomination for “With You,” a smooth collaboration praised for its melody and emotional delivery.

Also nominated is Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid for their energetic track “Gimme Dat,” a fan favourite that blends youthful flair with star power. Representing South Africa, Tyla returns with “Push 2 Start,” continuing her impressive global run after her previous Grammy success. Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, alongside Mehran Matin, completes the list with “Hope & Love,” an uplifting song centered on unity and optimism.

With such a competitive lineup, predicting a winner remains difficult. While Burna Boy’s Grammy experience and consistency put him among the favourites, the global popularity of Ayra Starr, Davido, and Tyla could also sway voters.

As Sunday approaches, fans across Africa and beyond eagerly await the announcement, hopeful to see African music continue its winning streak on the world’s biggest stage.
