Awujale Stool: Protest Rocks Ijebu Ode Over Alleged Imposition

A peaceful protest broke out on Friday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, following allegations of plans to impose the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The protesters, made up of concerned indigenes and youth groups, marched through major streets of the town, expressing dissatisfaction over what they described as an attempt to undermine traditional processes in the selection of the revered monarch.
According to the demonstrators, the Awujale stool is a sacred institution that must follow established customs and traditions, and any attempt to impose a candidate could lead to unrest and division within the community.
Placards were displayed with messages calling for transparency, fairness, and respect for Ijebu heritage, as the protesters urged relevant authorities and kingmakers to allow due process to prevail.
The protest remained peaceful, with security agencies on ground to maintain order and prevent escalation.
