Iran was plunged into a nationwide internet blackout on Thursday night as widespread anti-government protests continued to spread across the country, deepening tensions between demonstrators and authorities.

Reports indicate that internet access and telephone services were cut shortly after protests erupted in Tehran and several other major cities. The demonstrations, now entering their second week, have been driven by growing public frustration over economic hardship, governance issues, and continued security crackdowns.
