Datti Baba-Ahmed Calls for New Generation of Leaders, Cites Atiku’s Long Political Journey

Vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has called for the emergence of a new generation of Nigerian leaders, citing the long political journey of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking on leadership and generational change, Baba-Ahmed noted that Atiku began contesting for political office at a time when he himself was still undergoing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. He stressed that Nigeria’s current challenges require fresh ideas and younger leadership.
According to him, the country must look beyond recycling the same political figures and instead create space for leaders who understand the realities of the present generation and can offer innovative solutions to national problems.
His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with supporters agreeing on the need for generational shift, while critics argue that experience should not be completely sidelined in governance.
