FG, World Bank Begin $500 Million HOPE-GOV Programme to Boost Education and Healthcare

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in partnership with the World Bank, has commenced the implementation of a $500 million Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity–Governance (HOPE-GOV) Programme, aimed at strengthening service delivery in basic education and primary healthcare across the country.
The HOPE-GOV programme is designed to improve financial and human resource management systems at the state and local government levels, ensuring that funds meant for schools and healthcare facilities are better managed and effectively utilized.
According to the initiative’s goals, the programme will help build stronger institutions, promote transparency, and enhance accountability in the delivery of essential services that directly impact Nigerians, especially children and vulnerable populations.
The partnership with the World Bank reflects continued efforts to invest in Nigeria’s human capital, with a focus on long-term development through quality education and accessible primary healthcare.
