CAN Confirms 227 Abducted From St. Mary’s School in Niger State

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, has officially confirmed the number of victims abducted during Friday’s deadly attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
The horrifying raid, which occurred between 2am and 3am, initially left authorities struggling to determine how many students and staff had been taken.
However, in a statement released Friday evening, Daniel Atori, media aide to the CAN chairman, revealed that a total of 227 people were kidnapped.
According to the update:
• 215 pupils and students
• 12 teachers
were forcefully taken by the armed bandits who stormed the school while residents were asleep.
The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with citizens demanding urgent action from security agencies and the federal government. Families of the kidnapped students remain in distress as rescue efforts continue.
