Comedian and media personality Mr Jollof has issued a public apology following the physical altercation between him and social media critic VeryDarkMan on a United Nigeria Airlines flight scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on 17 November 2025. In a video released online, he apologised to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), United Nigeria Airline, and passengers who were on the flight, saying he never intended to delay anyone or cause a scene. He also apologised to his wife, children, and employer, noting that the incident did not reflect his true character and promising that it would never happen again.
Mr Jollof explained that he was travelling to Lagos to attend the MSME National Conference as a facilitator, where he was expected to teach participants how to monetise their voice. According to him, boarding began around 9 a.m., and he exchanged pleasantries with comedian Funny Bone before noticing VeryDarkMan, with whom he has an ongoing court dispute stemming from allegations made against his wife. He said he chose to ignore VeryDarkMan, as he has done on social media since the matter was taken to court, but claims the critic stared at him and allegedly made provoking remarks while settling into his seat.
The comedian narrated the altercation in vivid detail, insisting that everything escalated only when VeryDarkMan allegedly threatened to hit him. He said he remained calm initially but reacted when the situation became physical, adding that he acted purely in self-defense. He claimed he struggled for breath at one point and fought back to free himself, describing how the confrontation became intense before passengers intervened. He maintained that he never approached VeryDarkMan and did not initiate the fight, stressing that he only reacted when he felt attacked.
Despite the lengthy account of how events unfolded, Mr Jollof reiterated that violence is not in his nature and that he always encourages people to seek legal channels rather than resort to confrontation. He said he regrets that the situation happened at all and emphasised that such behaviour would not repeat itself. He ended his message by reaffirming his respect for his wife, stating that the allegations against her remain unproven in court, and expressed hope that the incident will be understood in context as he continues to defend himself legally and personally.
