REP MEMBER KAFILAT OGBARA RAISES ALARM OVER FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS, FRAUDULENT SCHEMES IN HER NAME

The office of Hon. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, has issued a public disclaimer alerting Nigerians to a fraudulent scheme using her name and image.

In an official statement released to the public, the lawmaker warned that certain individuals are impersonating her on Facebook to deceive and extort unsuspecting citizens, falsely claiming affiliation with government empowerment programs.

“Hon. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara does not own or operate any Facebook account,” the statement reads. “Any profile or page bearing her name or image on Facebook is entirely fake and should not be engaged with under any circumstance.”

The statement singled out a particular impersonator who identifies himself as “Dr. Ali Lawson” and reportedly uses the phone number 0703 066 4138 to contact victims and solicit money under the guise of a government-sponsored initiative.

The office clarified that all of Hon. Ogbara’s official engagements are strictly conducted through verified government channels, and that any such solicitation is fraudulent.

“We strongly encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities without delay,” it concluded.

Citizens are urged to ignore and block any suspicious messages, and to help spread the warning to prevent others from falling victim to the scam.
