TIKTOK STAR KHABY LAME VOLUNTARILY EXITS U.S. AFTER BRIEF ICE DETENTION OVER VISA VIOLATION

Khaby Lame, the Senegalese-Italian sensation and most-followed person on TikTok, has voluntarily left the United States after being briefly detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying the terms of his visa.

The 25-year-old influencer, whose real name is Serigne Khabane Lame, was detained on June 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. According to ICE, Lame had entered the U.S. on a temporary visa on April 30 and violated its terms, prompting his apprehension.

Lame had been in the country for a number of high-profile events, including the prestigious Met Gala in New York City. After his brief detention, ICE confirmed that he was granted voluntary departure on the same day.

While it remains unclear if he immediately returned to Italy, Lame was seen in São Paulo, Brazil, as of Tuesday, according to an Instagram Story posted on his account.

The news of his detention triggered widespread reactions online, with fans flooding the comments of his TikTok and Instagram posts, despite his silence on the issue. Lame, known for his signature silent, deadpan reactions to internet “life hacks,” has yet to issue a public statement addressing the incident.
