GUNMEN ABDUCT APC WARD CHAIRMAN IN ONDO 

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Nelson Olaseyinde Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon Ward 5, located in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, May 12, 2025, along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, reportedly at the entrance of the victim’s farm.

Confirming the abduction, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the Command received the distress report and immediately launched a search operation.

“I can confirm to you that the APC chairman, Ward 5, was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road,” Ayanlade said.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, operatives from the Ifon Divisional Police Office, in collaboration with local hunters, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and personnel of the Nigerian Army, are currently combing the area in a joint effort to track the abductors and secure the victim’s release.

The police have urged members of the public with any useful information that could aid the ongoing rescue efforts to come forward.

As of the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the whereabouts of Adepoyigi remain unknown.
