IYABO OJO SPEAKS OUT AFTER EFCC GRILLS HER Ove3r MONEY-SPRAYING AT DAUGHTER’S LAVISH WEDDING

Nollywood actress and reality TV star Iyabo Ojo has broken her silence after being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over money-spraying antics at her daughter’s extravagant wedding ceremony.
Taking to Instagram on May 5, shortly after returning from the UK, the screen diva confirmed that she honored the EFCC’s invitation and spent part of her day at their Lagos office, where she was questioned about her personal background, career, and the now-viral wedding celebration of her daughter, Priscilla.
According to Iyabo, EFCC officials played back several videos from the wedding—some showing guests spraying bundles of both Naira and foreign currencies. The actress admitted that she was unaware of the full extent of the law regarding currency handling at events.
“I thought only the abuse or mutilation of the Naira was an offense,” she said.
“To my surprise, they clarified that spraying any currency, whether Naira or foreign, is actually prohibited in Nigeria.”
Though Iyabo was released the same day, she revealed that her legal representative has been placed on standby in case she’s summoned again for further questioning.
In a note of reflection, Iyabo issued a subtle warning to fellow Nigerians and party lovers:
“Perhaps it’s time to reconsider this long-standing tradition. Let’s prioritize caution and avoid any potential problems.”
Iyabo Ojo’s brush with the EFCC is the latest in the agency’s growing crackdown on celebrities over currency violations at high-profile events. As the wedding season heats up, this could serve as a much-needed wake-up call for many in the limelight who are still unaware of the legal landmines that surround Nigeria’s party culture.
