HARRISON GWAMNISHU CONDEMNS ‘OPERATION SWEEP ’ OVER ALLEGED HARASSMENT OF YOUTHS

Human rights advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, has strongly criticized members of the security outfit known as Operation Sweep, accusing them of harassing and brutalizing innocent young Nigerians on the streets.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Gwamnishu urged the security team to redirect their energy toward combating the rising wave of kidnappings in the country, particularly in remote and forested areas where criminal elements operate.

“Stop harassing young people on the road. Go to the bush and fight kidnappers,” he said, condemning what he described as unlawful profiling and intimidation of youths.
The activist’s comments come amid growing public concern over the increasing number of reported cases involving security agents allegedly extorting and assaulting civilians under the guise of maintaining law and order.
Authorities have yet to officially respond to the allegations.
