OBY EZEKWESILI PLAYFULLY TEASES OBASANJO AT HIS BIRTHDAY DINNER

In a heartwarming and humorous moment at a private dinner held to celebrate former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s birthday, former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, playfully called out the ex-president for forgetting to acknowledge her contributions during his speech.

As Obasanjo addressed the gathering, Ezekwesili, with her characteristic wit, could be heard jokingly interjecting, “You should say thank you very much!” Her remark sparked laughter and applause, adding a touch of levity to the celebratory event.

The exchange highlighted the strong bond between the two, which Obasanjo himself has often described as akin to a father-daughter relationship. Over the years, the former president has openly praised Ezekwesili for her invaluable contributions to his administration. He once revealed how her efforts as Minister of Solid Minerals and later as Minister of Education led to significant cost-saving measures, including the reduction of contract costs, which saved the federal government billions of naira.

Ezekwesili, who served in Obasanjo’s cabinet from 1999 to 2007, is widely recognized for her dedication to public service and her role in driving key reforms during her tenure. Her playful tease at the dinner not only showcased her spirited personality but also underscored the mutual respect and affection shared between the two leaders.

This delightful moment serves as a reminder of the enduring relationships forged in the corridors of power and the human side of those who have shaped Nigeria’s history. It’s a testament to the unbreakable bond between a former president and his “daughter” in service, even years after their time in office.

What a joy to witness such camaraderie and humor between two icons of Nigeria’s political landscape!
