Former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his condolences to the people of Okpekpe in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State following a brutal attack on their community by suspected herdsmen. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Crusoe Osagie, the former governor prayed for divine comfort for the families of the deceased and the affected community. Obaseki described the attack as heartbreaking and called on relevant authorities to take decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure peace and security in the state.
The statement read: “His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the former governor of Edo State, has expressed his deep sorrow over the senseless attack on Okpekpe community in Etsako East Local Government Area by suspected herdsmen, which led to the tragic killings of Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello.
“Obaseki stated, ‘I am profoundly saddened by the horrific and unprovoked attack on Okpekpe community by suspected herdsmen, which claimed the lives of two innocent individuals, Batemue Philip Ebo and Christopher Bello. My heart goes out to the people of Okpekpe and the families of the victims during this difficult time.’
“Such senseless acts of violence are tragedies we hope never to witness again in our communities. We urge all security agencies in the state to act swiftly to halt this violence and ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.”
