PUTIN READY TO NEGOTIATE WITH TRUMP TO END UKRAINE WAR
Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that he is ready to discuss the war in Ukraine with Donald Trump and suggested it would be a good idea for them to meet.
In his first comments since Trump issued threats to inflict economic damage on Russia if it failed to end the war in Ukraine, Putin struck a favourable tone towards the US president.
President Vladimir Putin had suggested that the ongoing crisis in Ukraine might have been avoided if Donald Trump had been in power during the escalation, expressing his willingness to engage with the new U.S. president about resolving the conflict.

Speaking on a Russian TV channel, Putin stated, “I can’t help but agree with Trump that if his victory had not been stolen in 2020, maybe there would not have been the crisis in Ukraine that arose in 2022.” The Russian leader was referring to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine that he himself ordered in February 2022.
Trump, in previous statements, has claimed he could end the war in Ukraine within a day but proposed giving his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, 100 days to find a resolution.
Putin’s remarks came a day after Trump addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he threatened to impose new sanctions on Moscow. In response, Putin questioned the feasibility of such sanctions, arguing they would harm the American economy. “Trump is not only a smart person but also pragmatic. I can hardly imagine decisions being made that would hurt the U.S. economy itself,” Putin said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Putin’s comments on Friday, accusing the Russian leader of attempting to manipulate Trump for his own agenda.
Zelensky emphasized the dangers posed by “Russia’s military potential and Putin’s readiness to continue the war and manipulate world leaders,” adding that the issue was thoroughly discussed during a Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff meeting in Ukraine.
